KKing's Counsel AI

The product

One legal workflow. Sources at its centre.

King's Counsel AI is being developed as a connected place to research, draft, review and account for work under English and Welsh law.

Research Engine

Start with a question. Return to the authority.

Designed to retrieve English and Welsh primary sources and put citations, provenance and confidence signals beside each answer. The practitioner verifies the source before using it.

The planned research view brings the answer and its supporting authorities together, so a solicitor or barrister can follow a proposition back to legislation, a judgment or a practice direction. Where sources differ or the position is uncertain, the workflow is intended to make that visible for further checking.

  • ◆Legislation, judgments and practice directions
  • ◆Citation links and provenance
  • ◆Conflict and uncertainty flags

Drafting Studio

Draft with the evidence in sight.

A workspace planned for opinions, letters of advice, skeleton arguments and commercial drafting. Source references, version history and review steps remain visible through the process.

Practitioners will be able to work from research and matter material while keeping the authorities behind a draft in view. Proposed risk markers and a review trail are intended to help the responsible lawyer assess the wording, revise it and approve the final work before it leaves the practice.

  • ◆Source-aware drafting
  • ◆Risk and review markers
  • ◆Counsel Pack export planned

Document Intelligence

Work securely with matter material.

Private retrieval over uploaded documents is planned for issue spotting, comparison and drafting context. Firm knowledge and matter access will be permission-aware as those tiers launch.

Within a matter, the planned tools will help teams find relevant passages, compare versions and identify points requiring attention. Responses drawn from uploaded files are intended to point back to the underlying material, with access governed by the matter's permissions.

  • ◆Private document context
  • ◆Comparison and issue spotting
  • ◆Matter-aware permissions

Audit & Compliance

Keep the full path to a conclusion.

The architecture specifies immutable event records for queries, sources, edits, exports and user decisions. Audit exports are intended to support internal review and professional record keeping.

The planned trail will show what was asked, which sources were presented, how work changed and where a person reviewed or approved it. Teams should be able to inspect and export that history when explaining a decision internally or preparing a professional record.

  • ◆Interaction history
  • ◆Source and export records
  • ◆Human review checkpoints

Firm & Enterprise

Governance that fits larger teams.

Planned options include SSO and SCIM, advanced permissions, DMS integration and dedicated deployment arrangements. The configuration and assurance package will be scoped with each organisation.

Firm-wide controls are intended to let administrators manage access by team and matter while supporting established identity and document systems. Deployment, data residency and integration requirements can be discussed against the organisation's security and procurement needs.

  • ◆Identity and access controls
  • ◆DMS integration roadmap
  • ◆Deployment options by agreement

Capabilities described here are planned. Phase 0 research and audit foundations precede the public portal.
